The Great White Pumpkin and the Indian Corn

I am so ready for Fall, and am ready for Summer to go away, so I am working as fast as I can on all of my Fall and Autumn/Halloween projects, thinking that it might speed things up ! (I know wishful thinking , since right now it is still 95 degress outside)

Here is my latest project I just got finished and framed. I love the white pumpkin and the 3-D effects. The Indian Corn ,looks like it is rug hooked with wool strips, but it is not!  It is using the French Knot method and uses Perle Cottons Floss...pretty neat right ?????

Can't wait to show you in person. hope to see you at a show or in the shop soon. until then...

Withdrawling from Shop Hop This Year !

Dear Friends and Fellow Shop Owners,
I know many of you know this already, as I had discussed this with you as I was deciding what path to take over these next couple of months, but I am regretfully withdrawling as a participating shop from the August Show Me Annual Safari Shop Hop, as well as The Country Shop Hop that I do in October with the shops down by the Lake area.

As not to start any rumors, the shop is NOT CLOSING and doing fine, but I have found that over these last couple of months and during this time, I have had alot of familiy activities, as well as health issues with myself and my mom and parents-in-law, etc. I find myself in the "middle life stage" when trying to still raise your children, and then finding your parent are needing your help now more and more too. Which is not a bad thing, I am not complaining, I am lucky to be able to be here, but am still working our how to prioritize.

Although I put my heart and soul into my shop, My family still is my first and foremost priority. My Fall schedule is pretty full already, I will be vending every weekend in Sept , and several in Oct. , as well as a couple other mini events at the shop. So rather than trying to " do it all" and get nothing accomplished, I plan on trying to focus on some and giving them my all. I will miss the Shop Hops this year, and those who I sometimes only get to visit with during those days, But will be ready for next year!

I encourage everyone to go on the Hops,if you can, they are always alot of fun, and support the participating shops. They put in alot of work and long hours getting ready for the hops. I will have info on both Shop Hops, so if you have questions, need dates or times etc, please feel free to ask me, if I can help in anyway.
If only there was a way to squeeze more hours into a day, then we could do all that we want to do.... but then I guess we would just find more things that we would want to do, right?
Until then, With my Needle in Hand, I'll just Keep Stitchin"

Too Many Men..... I mean Snowmen in July !

New Fabric Panel and 3 cordinates just arrived at the shop to get you thinking of "cooler" days ahead.

To be precise, too many snowmen! Not really as the more, the merrier in this warm and charming collection from Jacqueline Paton. The delightful panel shows snowmen peeking around trees, gazing at the starry sky and conversing with their other snow friends. The panel will be effective on its own with the addition of simple borders using a few of the coordinate prints. The panel is also ideal to cut apart and use the single large and four small blocks to create stunning wall art!

This is a pic of myself and a wonderful new friend, Lolita Newman ,that I met at Quilt Market, She is the designer of the Stitchin' by the River patterns, The patterns are historical/Civil War era embroidery designs stitched in black thread. She has done so much research and includes facts and even recipes from that time period. So of course I needed many of her patterns for my shop, since this is my favorite part of history. I wanted to give her a sm. token of my graditude,so I gave her some of the cotton that I grow,so she may use it in her booth displays! See more of her work on her blog- stitchinbytheriver.blogspot.com

Here are just a couple of photos that I took at Quilt Market. The first is me standing in the National Non-wovens booth, with several of my pattern designs hanging in their booth, and then one of me and the 2 greatest Marketing ladies of National Non-wovens, Christi Henke and Michalina Centofanti. I can't brag enough about their products! They are the BEST!

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Hi Gang,

I just wanted to share some news about the past weekend at Quilt Market!. What an awesome time, exhausting, but loved every minute of it. I was so excited that the company that makes the woolfelt that I carry, National Non-wovens Co. asked if they could display many of my own pattern designs to use as displays in their booth. What a honor, There was a great response.... :)

I also got to visit with some of my favorite designers, and meet several new talented ones along the way. Ordered some wonderful patterns from several designers from Australia ! Great items & something new for us here in the States !

I brought back many new patterns and books, so I am needing to make space to hang them. I am putting many patterns in the shop on sale 50% off, to make room for the new stuff! I will be getting more with in the next few weeks and months!

I brought a notion, that is a quilter's dream called Heat Press, it is a fusible mesh tape that is used to join batting edges together...no more sewing/joining batting edges, just fuse and your ready to quilt!

Also will be getting natural and white (that can be dyed) 100% Cotton-jumbo rick rack, and several other trims/ tapes and buttons for embellishing.

* Ordered some beautiful small wool bundles from Mary Flanagans woolens, and dyed woolens for kits from
Weeks Dye Works
* A few Good Men panel (snowman/and Winter designs) )and several coordinating prints that ship in June
* Several new Civil War Shirtings - ship in July
* 10 new brushed homespuns/cottons ship in August
* Complete line (29 bolts) of Red Rooster fabrics- A Year To Crow About- ship late Sept/early Oct.

I will be planning on starting several new blocks a month, over the next few months (I need some time to start stitching some samples together , so everyone can see which one to choose from, There will be embroidery,wool/woolfelt applique, quilting, etc. A little something for everyone!)

I hope you can stop in to see what's new, and don't forget ,more things will be arriving weekly and as the summer passes. Many new events will also be planned !

Looking forward to seeing you soon, Melissa

P.S.- Sales on misc. patterns will be effective starting 5-23-12 thru the end of May- Also on sale All Punchneedle patterns are 50% off, as well as Roving and Needlefelting Supplies !

I wanted to thank everyone that has been so understanding, when I was gone out of the shop several days last week and part of this week. I am sorry for any inconvience. My mom was unexpectantly admitted to the hospital for heart and kidney problems and the due to her blood sugars, ended up in ICU for several days. Then I have spent a couple of other days in the ER dept. with my youngest daughter, who has been ill. I am glad to announce both are home and recovering nicely.

If all goes as planned, I will be attending the International Quilt Market in Kansas City -Thursday thru Sunday. I am anxious to see the newest items, patterns ,fabrics, gadgets and new techniques. I can't wait to bring these new things back to share with you all.
Primitive Stitches shop will re-open on Tuesday May 22nd
Stayed tuned or stop in the shop to see all of the newest items , until then Keep Stitchin'

Busy time at the Primitive Stitches booth !

Wow, what a turn out we had at the 6th annual  It's A Gathering, event this past weekend. I have included a picture of the booth before we opened the doors. What a great turn out we had. It was overwhelming, and as always, it seemed like everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves. I tried to snap of few photos to share with you, but as you can see ,I did not have much time for photos, the booth was busy all day long, it seemed like there was wall to wall customers (not that I am complaining, lol)
Thanks to all of my loyal customers who visited my booth and to all of the new friends and customers that we just met at the show. It was so much fun !

due to illness, shop closed until Tues. Jan.31st

I just wanted to aploygize to those who have been trying to come to Primitive STitches during this past week or so. I was closed all last week, due to brochitis and newly diagonised asthma, Unfortunatly, things have not shown much improvement, and I had to go back to doctor this week and was told it had developed into pneumonia.

Yuck, I am now restricted from work for awhile, taking 7 different prescriptions and doing breathing treatments at home every 4 hrs. Hopefully this should do the trick. I hope to be back in the shop working on Tuesday. I am sorry for any inconvience, and please share this with your friends, who might not get this email. I would not want any one to make a trip here, only to find the shop closed. I appreciate everyones patience and concerns.

Hope to be back stitchin with you all soon,

Melissa
